Yank your boot laces tight!  We’re hitting the peaks in central Colorado for five days/four nights.  Sparkling mountain lakes, pine trees piercing the huge blue skies, the crags of Harvard Peak splashed with blinding snow caps…

Twice a year we round up the guys and head for the mountains. 

The backpacks are heavy.  The air is thin.  The nights are frigid.  The food is freeze-dried. 

But the view… the view will answer questions you never thought to ask.

His wilderness is good for the soul.

This trip costs about $100 per person.  This includes all food and fuel expense.

We will carpool from Austin.  Departing sometime in the afternoon.  Arriving back in Austin one week later.

This adventure is in a completely primitive, wilderness setting – we carry everything we need (except water).

Hiking at > 10,000 feet with a 40lb pack for 6-8 hours a day is hard work.  Recommend ages 15-75, in good health.

Negative.  All our routes are non-technical (no fall hazards).  Very limited encounters with ice and snow.

Typically high-fat, high-carb foods.  It’s not unusual to burn more than 2,000 calories a day in the mountains.  We eat two prepared meals per day (breakfast & dinner).  Each person carries high-energy snacks for munching throughout the day.  Here is an example meal plan
